How To Spy on Your Competitors

Let us assume that you run an Ecommerce business, naturally, some names comes to mind, Jumia, Konga etc. If you’re to position yourself against them, it would be great to know what they are up to, SEO, Ad wise, essentially, you looking at how to spy on your competitors..

So how do you go about this? There are various tools to use to spy on your competitors, but I’d mention 3 tools I use Semrush , Ahrefs , Moz .

These tools are paid tools, but you can still gain a lot from their free features. Let’s do case study, we’d be using Semrush as our tool and spying on Jumia

Firstly, you have to visit semrush, create an account or login with your Google account, when you have access, you type in the website address you want to check out..in this case, jumia will be in the search bar.

When you do that, you get the results in the image below, you get an overview of Jumia’s performance, showing you the organic search Traffic, paid search traffic and so on..

Asides that, you also gain an insight into the top publishers showing their ads on, their top performing landing pages.

Also from the result, we can see that Jiji, Olist are Jumia’s top competitors. There are a lot of other information too which you get using their paid service..

Insights:

From these information, you can decide your next line of action, if you want to invest in paid ads, you can decide to bid on the keywords Jumia uses..

*** Also, personally, I’d bid for their organic keywords too so that if people search for them, I show up
